Screen blacks out after closing xcompmgr

I am running two Qt applications on Linux Arm, in order for the user to see both windows I am using xcompmgr - a composite manager.
One application opens the second one that runs over it in a smaller draggable window, when I open the second app I also open xcompmgr, and when I close the app I am also closing xcompmgr - however, when xcompmgr is closed the screen blacks out.
This worked fine with Qt 4.8 & QtQuick 1, now I am working with Qt 5.2 QtQuick 2
Will be glad to have any sort of input on this, thanks ahead!
