I run Linux Mint 15, and have Qt4 installed on it. I'm just learning C++ and, as most tutorials go, it starts with a few console programs. The deal is that I don 't know how to configure Qt so that it lets me use a console for program output. Can someone help me with this. I'd sure appreciate it.

      Hi and welcome to devnet,

There's no need for anything special, debug messages are sent to std::out and std::err so they will appear on the console when you run your program from it.

You can also use Qt Creator to start with Qt, it will be even easier
