Graphical console development for Linux
-
Hi,
I'm new to Qt5. I am interested in using the hardware accelerated graphics APIs, but without running X11. The two platforms of interest at present are Debian Linux on 64bit intel, and Raspbian on my pi's.
Is it possible to write a simple application that runs under the Linux console and uses OpenGL/GLES/etc.?
I have googled and searched this forum for 'linux console opengles' and 'linux console opengl' but without finding much.

AFAIK, the options you have when you don't want X.org are: framebuffer, Wayland.

Can you do OpenGL/OpenGLES via the 'framebuffer'?
In other words, do I need to read the source for Weston and adapt it, or is it already possible with Qt5 to get an OpenGL context on a framebuffer device?

I think the answer is yes, but that is outside of the zone of my own experience ;) Try asking on Interest mailing list, there are more experts there.
