How to add large data files in APK

I have an application which I am writing a demo for. This requires having a large (about 400mb) data file.

Don't really want to add as a resource file, because I guess this would make the executable file huge?

What other options are available for getting this file into the APK? Ideally this would work as a demo for all platforms.
