Qt Creator 2.8.1 crash on creating new project (Windows 7 host)
-
First off, I apologize for the duplicate post with the Installation forum. I think I should have put it here instead.
Host is Windows 7 Pro, Service Pack 1
I have downloaded and installed Qt Creator 2.8.1 from this link on the downloads page:
Qt 5.1.1 for Windows 64-bit (VS 2012, OpenGL, 522 MB)
It appears to have installed ok and I ran it and got the Welcome Page and opened and ran a few of the examples from the Examples tab. When I attempt to create a new sample project following the instructions here:
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.1/qtdoc/gettingstartedqt.htmlQt Creator reliably crashes during the project creation wizard. After several tries, I think I’ve isolated the behavior to where once you open the file chooser dialog to tell it where to put your project, it will reliably crash about 30 seconds later. If you hurry through the wizard steps, you can go ahead and create the project and even get to the view where it shows you the main.cpp it creates, but its still going to crash. If you only make it partially through the wizard, it will crash. As long as you don’t attempt to browse to a new folder to place your project in, Qt Creator appears to continue running normally waiting for you to continue the project creation wizard.
I let the MS Visual Studio 2012 debugger attach to it, and it says Unhandled exception at 0×77538E19 (ntdll.dll) in qtcreator.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0×00000014.
Anybody seen this or have any ideas on what’s wrong ?
Update on this problem…..
I emptied my C:\Temp folder and rebooted in an attempt to clean things up.It appears on one of my attempts to create the Notepad project it actually created the full project. So instead of trying to create a new project, I opened the existing one. After a minute or two, Qt Creator crashes without any further input from me.
I’ve searched through the General, Tools, and Installation forums, and in the bug reports and don’t see anything matching this problem. Surely I’m not the only one this is happening to ?
Thanks,
Mike -
