Microsoft buys Nokia after all...
-
Ok, no longer really on-topic, but this is the Lounge :)
It seems the predictions become true after all: Microsoft is to buy the Nokia cellphone devision and the relevant patents, and quite cheeply too it seems. Elop will move back to Microsoft, and is rumored to be in the race to replace Balmer as CEO. So... was it the mission of Elop to get Nokia ready for this takeover?
Anyway: glad that Qt got sold by Nokia before being taken over by Microsoft. It seems that Microsoft is now actually a Qt user (via Here maps, which I hear is still based on Qt).

Congratulations to Elop! :D

This news comes surprisingly late. It does indeed seem that Elop is the biggest winner in all this.
Qt lives quite well under Digia and Qt Project, on the other hand.

Interesting news. I'm just glad Qt isn't part of the deal.

I this it's a good point of view...

We all knew this gonna happen sometime soon, glad that Qt lives and grows with Digia now. Cheers to all of us as we survived the hard time when Nokia switched to windows platform :)

Or a chunk of it anyway.
And boy did I nail it a year ago: http://post404.com/2012/06/the-next-phase-for-nokia/
