Application won't run inside Qt Creator, but will run in an external directory with required dlls on Windows 7

I have no problems building the application, but I'm unable to run it from Qt Creator. When I copy the executable to another location and copy the required dll's to that location, the application runs fine.
So i'm assuming that Qt Creator is not able to find the right dll's when running the application, but I rechecked my environment variables just to make sure I wasn't missing anything but everything seems okay thee. This is the error I get when I hit run "The program has unexpectedly finished.
C:...\release\example.exe exited with code -1073741511" pops up in the application output. I should mention that I have a previous installation of Qt that does not have this problem. -
It's an issues with the DLL. Check the solutions proposed at several similar threads:
