[Bug] Group Activity page - "today" instead of yesterday?
-
At this very moment 4:54ET the group activity page for "independent developers" show "January 5, 2011" and "Today" as headers. I assume the "Today" should be "Yesterday" and maybe the first one should be "Today"....
Not that matters much but because of different time zones the "date" and "time" are misleading at times. Maybe would make sense to add some indicator of the "server timezone" or go crazy and allow each user to define his timezone and have all date/times converted on the fly :)

I'd go for this one.

Update: I don't know if it has to do with "the current time" but now the page shows "Today" and "Yesterday".
I believe there is a bug if it hasn't been fixed already. I will try to check tomorrow at the same time.
-
The best would be some screenshots and a bug report, including your locale and time zone settings.
-
I will have to wait until tomorrow. I posted here first hoping that someone would confirm.
p.s. I never thought about this... does the browser include any headers with my locale/timezone? Otherwise, I don't see how my timezone or locale will matter.
EDIT: I don't see any on firebug.... It would make a lot of sense to have them if they don't exist... Is it possible that nobody considered this :) or is there a privacy issue somewhere?
-
Some JavaScript could be executed in the browser, using its locale settings. Let's wait for Marius' comment.
-
It should depend on members localization can be edited "here":http://developer.qt.nokia.com/member/edit_localization
I will test that.

Mine is correct (ET/US). I will keep my eye on the activity page to see if I can get a better handle of the problem and take a screenshot.
Is the information on the localization used when displaying dates/time on the web site? If yes, I may have found some other bugs.
-
In fact... Just happened again and now I have a screenshot:

Your strange display occurred about midnight (evtl -1 hour) in GMT/CET time zone. Looks pretty obviously like a locale/not-locale display.

Please post them we will try to look at those.
We are taking look at issue you have mentioned.
-
It is probably not that simple because it occurred Yesterday at about 5PM and today at about 9AM (ET)
-
I can reproduce this if I set the time zone to GMT-5:00
EDIT:
Seems to be an issue with all timezone behind GMT (GMT-x:xx), it works with TZ GMT and ahead GMT (GMT+x:xx) -
Thanks folks, good detective work worthy of "Derrick":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_(TV_series) him self, we're on it.
-
We have done some fixes on the date logic in today's release, please have a look on your activity tabs and let me know if it makes more sense now.

Looks good now, after a short test. Thank's guys!

Sorry, I was too fast :-(
It now displays wrong dates on GMT+01:00.
I've opened "QTWEBSITE-177":http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTWEBSITE-177. Please follow up there and add screenshots if you want.
