It would be very helpful to avoid duplicated threads if the system would list any other threads (on the same forum?) that the title (and maybe also the body of the first message) matched the words on the new title of the new thread being created.

I have seen this in some other web developer web sites and a few times it gave me the answer. Of course, one can (and should) always do a search before initiating a new thread but it is not very practical right now - most likely you would need to go to the advanced search and tweak some of the options.

Fully agree, this will be a part of a QA forum feature we plan on investing in, I've set up an issue for this here: http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTWEBSITE-134

I would prefer a non-obstructive approach: some "json" just after the title field looses the focus. To make even better I would like to be able to "preview" the other threads w/o having to leave your "editing" page. If you have an opportunity make sure to check the devexpress web site - not all is good but I like some of the implementations there.

This sounds promising. Any timeframe in mind?

Not yet. The H1 2011 planning is ongoing.
