I have some QML using XMLHttpRequest that reads a local file. This works ok on Ubuntu and also on windows using the Simulator. I have deployed to a Symbian device and have added the file to the .pro as a DEPLOYMENT option. This correctly creates an entry in the <appname>_template.pkg that copies the file to the Symbian app private dir. When I run the app, the XMLHttpRequest can't see the file. What directory does XMLHttpRequest take files from under Symbian? Does the file have to be placed somewhere else instead?

    Thanks

    Simon

What is the path you have given in your code. It seems for Symbian you might have to give the path of private folder or you can keep the files under some other shared folder like "other".

The path in my code is the 'default' path (i.e. I just use the filename). I assumed this would map to the private dir because the Qt created pkg file puts them there.

Usually in Symbian, binaries go to the bin folder and others are stored in the private folder.

Thanks. What I need to know is my original question. What directory does Qt XMLHttpRequest take files from under Symbian?

            Thanks

I am not sure about that in Qt. Will have to try it out and see. Check with the private folder first. Also checking the .pkg file might give you an idea where those files are being installed.

As per my messages... "I assumed this would map to the private dir because the Qt created pkg file puts them there."...."When I run the app, the XMLHttpRequest can’t see the file"
