It happens very often that 2-3 people post a very similar reply within the same minute or so. It would be nice that when replying to a thread, if someone else posted in the meanwhile, your post gets blocked with a warning like "Wait, the thread has changed while you were writing your post", allowing people to read what has just been posted and (eventually) change or discard their replies.

stuk, because granting delete function to users can lead to unpredictable results (also edit can do it, hehe)

You can edit your post and remove everything. Maybe someone had already replied to your post, it would be confusing if the original post was completely deleted.

But to have 3 responses with the same conten, is also a bit strange.

I tried it, and no, you only get an error message that your post is empty.

No. You cannot save an empty reply. Mostly there's left a

                              [delteted because xyz...]

                              from the user.

Volker, when I (and other moderators too, I think) see such editions I usually delete them.

What is the problem of delete post?
Maybe some user can write a 'bad words' and after delete the post? Then user have just reply to that post. Ok, if the user delete many more post is consider 'garbage' from the devnet.
Maybe for prevent this a delete function can delete 10 points (add post +5, so every delete -5 points), this can damage a normal delete from a confusion, ok, but this can prevent many other problem. I have see many forum use the delete function, maybe only me i don't see many problem.

Yeah, it happend to me several time, I always reopen the thread in another tab, and check it (and also make a crtl+a and a crtl+c), before hitting the Post reply button. But it would be great to have an automate which warns me to decide whether refresh the page (my entry should be saved and stay in the Post a reply box), or post anyway. Maybe you should make suggestion on bugreports just as Gerolf suggested earlier ;).
