Bug with the abbreviation feature
-
I just spotted an issue in the feature that underlines abbreviations with a dotted line and provides a highlight. Considder "this ":/forums/viewthread/26060/ post. Note how of the OMR abbreviation the MR is underlined? That is clearly a bug, as the MR here does not stand for Merge Request. The feature should only kick in for abbreviations used as a whole word I think.

Hi Andre,
I have fixed your link. A blank was missing. :-)
However, let try some more. TAFAIK and ZIANAL and AFAIKO and DoMRepitition and Domrepitition

You are right. At the moment the feature is simply triggered b a number of capital letters regardless where they are. Currently, you may add anywhere before and after the abbreviation an arbitrary number of characters (see examples above) as it looks.
So, the abbreviation shall be preceded and ended with a space for recognizing an abbreviation.

Well, I said "word" on purpose. A space is a word boundary, but not all word boundaries are spaces...

That is an academic question and may be a different perspective. I saw it more from the point, if an abbreviation is a word. Right away I would say no, but I am not sure if someone may convince me otherwise.
Keeping that in mind I would phrase it:
The abbreviation shall be preceded and ended by a word boundary. -
Sure, that was what I was aiming for.
