no parallel universes, rarely late nights .. its just total addiction to Qt I guess ;-)
I guess my issue is that I currently have too many addictions to split up my hours... But I have to say the the amount of contributions you make look like a full-time paying job! :)
But, to be honest, keeping on top of a forum doesn't require nearly as much time as one thinks. Just run the numbers and see ;).
well one could always abuse the points system, but that wouldn't take you far in terms of reputation. at least i can vouch that the top members (at least till a few days ago) have provided many a solution to many users and contributed a lot to the forum's growth. we didn't get there by just creating noise and posting an opinion about everything on earth! we didn't use this forum for load testing as someone earlier said
Having the email chain from Gmail sure helps keep up to date with emails.
If you have this on your phone, you can be doing work, on the train or whatever and still reply to everyone.
Which is precisely what I (and prolly most of the other highranking members) do.

Wrong again, you cannot talk for all high ranked members. I, at least need my Qt sdk in place to answer many Qt related questions here and actually try out stuff first before posting solutions. Mobile only environment can be good for holding chats and conversations :) -
Never thought about answering from phone. As chetankjain said for most questions dev env is needed (at least good text editor for quick code examples), sometimes qtcreator is used.
-
chetankjain: Hopefully I am not going to prove your first point by agreeing with the second.
I sure would like to win a phone but don't have any hope of doing so... My comment about how much time they have to devote to posting was intended as a complement not just because of the number of posts but also because of their variety. Of course with such higher numbers a percentage will end up being "less" technical and more "community/opinion/chat" oriented but I think they are as valid!

the good admins/managers of devnet continuously keep coming up with such competitions/awards, you will have your chance. did you miss out on the babel project? see here: "http://labs.qt.nokia.com/2010/10/22/call-for-babel-fishes/":http://labs.qt.nokia.com/2010/10/22/call-for-babel-fishes/ -

and most of the times, I'm trying out a solution and there is always someone faster who posts the correct answer or points in the right way :) and i miss getting points there :(
-
tamhanna, forum is oriented for help, not for learning.
chetankjain, hehe, it's all about me too :)
chetankjain: Unfortunately too late! I can't remember the last time I wrote anything in Portuguese about software development but it would have been The Opportunity.
