[Suggestion] Wiki page last edited on
-
This small piece of info displayed at bottom of every wiki page will really help to notice how recent the wiki page is ... very useful from my experience. See wikipedia for similar feature ...
-
chetankjain, maybe not only time, but also last contributor?
-
i thought about if its good to show the creator and/or the last contributor .. but that is something one can always get from article history .. and again there can be many key contributions done somewhere in between the life of that wiki page ..
so i'd be more interested in getting to know how recent the page is ...
-
Good suggestion. Date/Time is important, creator/last editor may be ok if there is enough space left for it.
-
Yeah, it's a good ideai, but I aggree with chetankjain, because if there is more contributors, you can't display everyone in the bottom, and you can't decide who added the most value to that wiki page. So adding the date of the last modification, it's clever, but if you want to see how edeted it, you should stay at the acticle history page!

CreMindES, last editor makes sense when you maintain article and you can see is there any new contributes to this page or not (remembering time of last check is slightly annoying, remembering last contributor is easier I think).

remembering either will be tough as the number of pages continue to grow ... one might still note the author or the last modified date, if one were to be the author of a particular page, but majority readers might not really care

If you maintain an article, I think that also mean that you've edited sometime before, and as you sholud be subcribed to that wiki page, so if anyone edit it, you will be notified by e-mail.

What about a "alert me when this page is edited" button/checkbox. So one get's informed when someone edits a page. Just like the subscribe to this thread function in the forum.

Good idea, something like [This page was last modified on 1 December 2010 at 15:18 by mariusg] in a smaller font at the bottom of the page then. Noted!

Now I totally agree with chetankjain, because if you display the author(s) of an article at bottom, it should be all of them, which is impossible, and you can check it in the artice history. If the original author make the whole wiki page, and somebody corrects just one sentenses, I don't think that the last modifier should be displayed at the bottom. Of course he/she is also a co-author but the I think you get what I'm trying to explain.
The date thing is absolutely useful and correct thing to be there, just as you wrote it.
