QtSDK 4.8.3

  • Hi everybody.
I see in the digia website that a new version of qt (4.8.3) in now available.
My suspect is that this new version is only for commercial use because I not find the latest QtSDK. Am I wrong? Where can I find the latest QtSDK with QtCreator?

  • You can find the open source qt 4.8.3 at the "download":http://qt-project.org/downloads section of this forum.
But as far as i know the SDK hasn't been updated (it uses 4.8.1).

  • Thanks for your reply.
Do you think that SDK will be updated soon or never more?
I not speak english very well.
I have read the why is good to have Qt Commercial license http://qt.digia.com/try-qt-now/ but I have a doubt.
Can I sell my applications written in Qt as closed source without Qt commercial license?

We must wait for Digia to take decisions here, we can only guess that Digia will eventually create an installer that installs: Creator, framework, maybe compiler (at least for Windows: MinGW) and an update/maintenance tool together, but until they do it you can download the open source edition for your OS/compiler combination from this site (the download section) and install that and Creator and it should be easy enough to make it work.

For an answer with legal value you should ask an lawyer, because my answer has no legal value, anyway from what i understand you can sell a closed source application developed with LGPL version of Qt if you link dynamically with Qt not statically and only if you modify the source code of Qt framework you must provide the source code (for modified Qt framework - your application can still be closed source)
