Offline Qt Doc
-
Can we download offline Qt doc probably in .chm format from somewhere.
-
Can't you use Qt Assistant instead? Anyway, it sounds interesting to me as well.
-
I have been wondering this as my current house has no internet :(
Although Qt Creator has the help built in under the help tab doesnt it? (pressing F1 etc???)
-
There are several options for off-line docs:
HTML Qt documentation is in the doc/html directory of your Qt installation, you can just point your browser at the index.html page.
Qt Assistant (bin/assistant) is a browser for the help that allows you to browse and search the off-line documentation files. Qt Assistant uses the "Qt Compressed Help Files" in the "doc/qch" directory. If you use Qt Creator you can instead use Qt Creator's help system to browse and search the off-line docs but also get the F1 context based help (place your cursor on a Qt object or function, press F1 and it will show you the docs for that item for the version of Qt that your project is using).
Qt Assistant was written before Qt Creator and the help system in Qt Creator seems to be based on Qt Assistant. -

I required offline docs as the Nokia Qt SDK does not come with all maemo related references . I am not sure of this - but at least Qt assistant does not show any references to something like Qt::WA_Maemo5StackedWindow. Whereas I could locate it online.

Yes, you have a good point there! ;)

If you download Qt for Maemo "(http://get.qt.nokia.com/qt/source/qt-maemo5-opensource-src-4.6.2.tar.gz )":http://get.qt.nokia.com/qt/source/qt-maemo5-opensource-src-4.6.2.tar.gz you should find the docs you require there.

Thats right. But only for doc I don't have to download the entire src files. If it could be compiled as a chm file or packaged like the help files for Symbian SDK it would be much better.
-
Isn't chm a microsoft format? This would probably drive Nokia and Qt away from it as they support other platforms... I see no issue with a folder of html documentation.

Well chm can be viewed in any linux as well as windows platform. Also it doesn't what format it is as far as it helps developer and developer community. It can be bundled like standalone eclipse help files as we have for Nokia 5th Edition SDK's.

I never hear that!

bq. HTML Qt documentation is in the doc/html directory of your Qt installation
I downloaded Qt 5.4, it doesn't have doc/html folder.
However, Qt documentation in portable offline format (PDF, fb2) is useful to read it with e-book device that doesn't have web browser, but better for eyes health... -
