Hi, a couple of days ago I had around 270 points, but now I login today and have only 252, do you know if there are any issues in the points system?
    Thanks

      Hi Raul,

The points you see are only calculated using the last year, so if you're active for more than a year you can have earned more points in the same period previous year compared to now.

Yes, I get that... but the points I had two days ago were more than the ones I have today.
I know that there is some formula that the points from last year influence this year's score.

But last year ended 6 months ago, and I subscribed december 2010, so my profile shouldn't be suddenly 20 points less from two days ago than from today, unless I'm missing some other rule here.

Well, AFAIK the points are expiring after 1 year with relation to the date to got the points. They are expiring after 365/366 days then. This might one of the causes.

There was another thing end of last week. The hall of frame points were growing up again. Suddenly the points were much lower. I would assume that it has something to do with a correction in the system.

Oh ok... maybe that was it then.
Most of the last 20 points I lost were two posts in the forum and a couple of tags and "Rate this up"s

Too bad then, I'll regain them.

            Thanks

I got the same problem. Yestoday my point is 411, but it become 161 when I login just now :(

I use IE9 on Win7. It's happened once one or two months ago, That time I lost about 100 points
and I was using IE9 on Win7 too.

Is this the reason? It's never happened when I use firefox on ubuntu.

Points expire after one year. So, points you earned July 1, 2011, do not count anymore as of today. That is the main reason points are lost. Other reasons are that sometimes the things you did that earned you those points are modified: tags deleted (perhaps replaced with other ones), posts deleted (whole topics, or several posts merged into one), etc.

At my peak, I had about 27k points, now I am just above 17k... That is: you're not the only one getting hit by this :-)

                  Andre, Thanks!

Got it ! I don't realy care the points, I was just a bit confused before.

PS, You are so great! :)
