How to set up environmental variables on Ubuntu for Qt creator

Hi guys,
I downloaded qt-everywhere-opensource, and maked and make installed succesfully. later on, I can not find Qt Creator and then I installed Qt creator. so far, everything is ok, but, I imported my project and went to Tool->options->Qt4->Qt versions ,there is nothing, means just two item: Auto-detected and Manual. under them, empty. I wonder whether I miss to set some environmental variables. also, I project can not build and popup eror message:can not find some header files, but, I pretty sure those header files actually exist there. I am novice ob ubuntu, welcome any ideas. thanks in advance.

Do you know where qmake is installed? If you know the path, may be try adding the path of qmake and see whether it is working?
