Is there a way to force the "Show tabs for each individual page" in Edit->Preferences...->Options to be set? (From the qhcp file or command line?)
The problem is, I want to open certain links in a new tab, but if the user doesn't have this option set, it's not obvious what's going on. Unfortunately, hitting the BACK button from the new tab takes you to a blank page, not the page from which you opened the tab!

I tested it but i didn't see the problem you wrote.
You can open the link by right click on the link and choose the Open Link in New Tab, you can switch between open tabs through Open pages window.
