QChart, QChartView, large line series

Lets say I add 20 points to a line series, the chart is updated (with luck -see my other posts) and displayed in the chart view. In this case the chart fits nicely so no scroll bars. What if there are a million data points? How/when does the chart or chart view decide a horizontal scroll bar is necessary?
