Qt and 10-foot UIs, digital kiosks and digital totems
-
Looking around in the Qt DevNet, I was not able to find any document or discussion regarding 10-foot UI applications (see: "10-Foot UI at Wikipedia":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10-foot_UI), Digital Kiosks (see: "Interactive Kiosks at Wikipedia":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interactive_kiosk) or Digital Totems (same as digital kiosk, just with a different form-factor).
This is quite weird, given that Qt is used to build MythTV (see: "MythTV":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MythTV) and KDE Kiosk (see: "KDE Kiosk":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiosk_(KDE)).
Is this lack of discussion a sign that these types of application are of little interest/importance on the market or what?
Does anybody here write software for these applications?
Any consideration/comment about these types of apps? -
I think it is more of a sign that such applications, when written using QML, differ in no way from typical mobile applications. Basically, Qt+QML offers everything needed to design such applications. MythTV was written before QML was around AFAIK, and KDE Kiosk targets a different use case, locking down regular user desktops to only wanted applications and features. The experience I have with developing QML apps that target projectors is quite positive, I think every 10 foot UI should be developed in QML these days :-)

I have the same feeling, even if I'm not (yet) developing this kind of applications. :-)
