I made a complete copy of my project directory and all subdirectories and went through the step to try to get the kit changed to Qt 5.12.2.  I didn't have much luck so I gave up.</p>
<p dir="auto">I went back to my original project and when I started qtcreator I had to choose my Qt version again even though I didn't change anything for that project.</p>
<p dir="auto">Why did the original project change?</p>

<p dir="auto">If all you wanted to do was to build your project with a different version of Qt, then you can do it in the same project directory without copying/moving anything.</p>
