Qt Online installer does not recognize running on unsupported host platform (Ubuntu 18.04)

I have been fighting to install our a build system using Qt on a laptop but have been getting many errors. Finally researched only to find the new installer is only compatible with 20.04 Ubuntu. Ubuntu 18.04 is no longer supported. So why doesn't the installer do the most basic check before wasting my time? And now it seems we need to figure an alternate method to continue our work.

@Gerard-Hale I suggest to bring this to the Qt developers mailing list and/or file a bug in Qt bug tracker. This forum is for Qt users, not sure you will get a proper answer to your question here.
