No permission to install dmg created by QtInstaller

QtInstaller (4.1) creates an exe (WIN10) and dmg (macOS) around an executable.
I can install this just fine on a test PC running Windows. When tryin to install this on a MacBook Pro, I get the error
"You do not have permission to open the application "my_installer". Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance."
What is the problem and how can I fix this?
