How to communicate with modem inside the phone?

Is there any way to communicate with modem? So that i can control it and take necessary information from it?

I assume, you have to use the OS API / Modem API for that.

Could you suggest any way to hang up a call using the phone modem ? i mean sending any command to the modem ? In windows we can do it using hyper terminal to send AT command.

Ans:

1. Symbian^3 and Symbian Anna based Nokia phone
2. I want to control modem from within an app even when the app is running in background
3. I want to hang up call by means of controlling the modem
