Unsolved Updates on Qt3D backend replacement? (RHI implementation timeframe?)
-
Does anyone know what is the current status of the Qt3D back-end replacement? About a year ago, it was planned that Qt3D, like QtQuick3D, would be migrated to RHI, but I haven't seen any updates since then. Will this actually be happening, and what time frame is realistic for release? I am assuming that this did not make it into Qt6?
I am developing scientific software that requires higher performance than offered by the current Qt3D implementation. I do not want to roll my own OpenGl code only to have to replace it all in a year or two (thanks Apple!), so right now I am choosing between using Qt3D (and depending on the RHI backend being available promptly), or embedding a dedicated graphics/game engine in a widget (probably TheForge or Urho).
If anyone has any information or advice, I would appreciate it.

Then better ask at the qt-interest mailing list.
