Navigating to " similar posts" - secret mouse / key combination ?
-
This is the most embarrassing and silly of my posts so far.
AFTER I type in the post title I get "pop-up" showing similar posts.HOW the heck I open them ?
I have not found the secret combination of keys , not yet.
**Click ATL CTRL F55??
And WHERE to put the mouse ?**
Cheers

I have a feeling that a long time ago, on this forum, I had a running discussion (with @kshegunov ?), to the effect of some similar search function did nothing in this forum, might be related.
Feelings are the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger… anger leads to hate… hate leads to suffering.
@AnneRanch
Anyway, up until now I have not known this thing to exist, and I mean ever. But for what it's worth clicking with the right mouse and choosing "Open link in new tab ..." does work on my Chrome. Other clicks seem to do nothing. -
Hi
Is this on mobile or what browser ?
In Chrome I can just click on them ? -
@mrjj
I very much cannot click on them, in that nothing happens. Up to date Chrome, different Windows/PCs, same behaviour.I have a feeling that a long time ago, on this forum, I had a running discussion (with @kshegunov ?), to the effect of some similar search function did nothing in this forum, might be related.

Hi
Just tried on work pc. works there too.
so maybe it can randomly work ? -

What does browser got to do with Qt?
-
On Ubutu I use "stsdard" FireFox
-
Installed "chrome " and it still is no go.
a. I may have to reboot
b. How do I tell Qt to use chrome ? -
If it is browser depended and or OR , I give up on it.

I did not see the previous post, while typing, BUT
my "on line help " highlight and push F1 is very temperamental too. -

It seems to be one of those broken things on websites, where the entire thing is a link but the text itself is not. So when you click on the text (and I mean the actual glyphs, not on general area of the text) it won't do anything, but if you click anywhere around or between letter lines or like inside the "o" letter it will trigger the link and open that topic.
So just click on the whitespace I guess.I hate those things :P

@kshegunov I knew it was some magic...
Unfortunately , after successfully opening any of the "similar post" if I go back to writing the original title I either- get no "similar posts" again
- I get them, they flash - then disappear unable to be activated again, until next time...
PS I believe this discussion should remain open so other "magic’s" can be shared - just for fun.
-

Err, yes you have! I have now recalled I showed you that --- for me at least, and I believe you found the same behaviour and said "you had never noticed", but maybe I am mistaken --- exactly the same is the case for searching the forum posts:
- Click the "magnifying glass" at the top right of the icon-bar at the top of this page.
- In the search text box which opens, type in, say,
compil
. - A box of matches drops down, just like when typing in the title for a new topic, as per this topic's question.
- There is nothing I can do in the way of clicking/selecting any of these to visit. Not left click, not right click, not Ctrl click, nothing. If I do right-click, the search suggestions disappear, and the context menu which pops up does not even let me open what I clicked on in a new tab. And @Chris-Kawa I have tried clicking everywhere all over the displayed list/entries, no difference.
So, I simply cannot successfully search the forum for anything :(
As I said, standard up-to-date Chrome, no add-ins, also same from Firefox, same on different OSes/PCs. And it has been left like this for a long time.... :( So I don't understand how any of you manage to search from there...

Yes, for searching. This is some kind of similar posts suggestion, which I hadn't noticed independently. :)
So I don't understand how any of you manage to search from there...
Ehm, google?

Of course I can Google, have you ever known me here to fail to do so?! :)
The question/point is that I cannot search from within this forum via that button. And presumably nor can the OP. You/others may be able to, but I/we cannot!

The "trick" with the right click mentioned above does seem to work for the search, so ... you have a half-baked solution now.
-
@kshegunov
And as I wrote, the right-click does not work for me:If I do right-click, the search suggestions disappear, and the context menu which pops up does not even let me open what I clicked on in a new tab.
Unless you would care to demonstrate interactively :) So I have no baked solution.

I like to add to the above - my favourite book by father of Visual Basic - A.Cooper "inmates are running the asylum" should be read at this point.
And since whoever writes Qt or wrote this form seldom reads it - I will assume that the "peculiar behaviour " while similar posts are presented is to generate additional and maybe even revenue producing traffic by duplicate posts. ( On some forums it keeps local police busy for similar reason ) .Cheers

Don't, when you assume ... (and the continuation is rather well known)
On some forums it keeps local police busy for similar reason
It may be, but on this one we don't get paid.

These are different completely unrelated people. This is a user forum and there are very few people working on Qt that monitor it.
The forum authors have no reasons to monitor it because it's just one more instance of their product. If you want to discuss this issue with them, look for NodeBB.

This I personally find pretty rude with regard to the people answering here which do that on their own time.
Nobody here has any interest in duplicating anything. We all participate here because it's something we like to do. -

It is fine with me if whomever is in charge for whatever reason, paid or not, is NOT reading these post. If they are not interested what users are talking about - it is their prerogative, but IMHO also a loss. You probably did not notice I was initially talking about this "feature".
So let me recap - if I cannot access similar post I MAY write it again THUS generating more traffic. Good for business - IMHO.
NOTHING personal. But as you said - "they" are busy doing whatever , not reeding posts ... so never mind.
But to continue, how silly, in same logic - since "they" do not read posts, your PERSONAL remark about them being busy elsewhere won't get YOU into trouble.PS Made major breakthrough with my app, so I feel like venting.
I AM SORRY

How is generating more traffic here is good for business? There are no ads here...
Also, do you understand what @SGaist wrote - this is users forum most people here are volunteers? I agree with @SGaist that what you wrote is quite rude - people here spend their own time to help others without being paid for that...
