      Hi there,

I just installed the Qt Creator 4.14.2 and Qt Designer 1.5.0 on a Macbook Air [OS 10.14.6 ].

Whenever I try to launch them by clicking on the application avatar/logo.

The screen will glitch and freeze for a good amount of time before the app opens up, and during this time, the mouse and keyboard will stop working.

However, I find that if I open them by clicking the executable. They launch fine.

I have no idea what causes this problem, but I could work with this solution.

Just want to put it out there for anyone who had the same issue like me, as it was quite a pain.

I feel like there should be a simple explanation. If anybody knows why, please put a comment down here. Thanks in advance.

      Happy Coding!

Have you figure this out? I have the exact same problem on a Macbook Pro running the same macOS version. In my case, the screen freezes completely (as in your case) both when I'm opening Qt Creator OR when press "Run" to run my application. Build and other tasks run just fine, and everywhere else Qt Creator is responsive.

My Qt Creator version is 4.13.1.

you should try a newer version of creator, the latest one available is AFAIK 4.14.0
That's the one I currently use on MacOS 11.0.1

Is your MacBook one of the new M1 models or good old intel?

          Q: What's that?
          A: It's blue light.
          Q: What does it do?
          A: It turns blue.
