[SOLVED] QextSerialPort problem
-
im running openSuse 11.4 and i have created a program that uses a serial port using QextSerialPort.
i run my program in a normal user but the port will not open but if i run as root then the serial port is open.
how do i solve this? any workaround to be a root user when using the serial port?
thanks.

my current solutions is making the user a member of the group that is handling the /dev/ttyS0.
is there any way that the current user doesnt need to be a member of a group?

Nope. You need the permissions to access the port, otherwise that won't work.

thanx.. so thats the only way...

Yes. Typically add the user you run your application as to the uucp group or maybe enable filesystem ACLs and set a suitable ACL on your serial device.
