Cross-compile for Raspberry Pi: Could not open egl display

I'm getting the following error, when I try to deploy my Qt application to my RaspberryPi:
Could not initialize egl display.I don't have any clue, as the error is very limited and syslogs of the remote system doesn't give me any info.
What I can say is that the file upload is working and execution from the terminal of the remote system works too.I'm using
- Qt 5.12.6
- Qt Creator 4.11.0 on Ubuntu 19.10
- Raspberry Pi Zero W with Raspbian Buster (10); Kernel 4.19.88+
