QML Drag and Drop by preset steps

Hey everyone. I'd like to implement a drag and drop on my dynamically created QML items but to snap them to preset pixel steps.
For example, instead of the smooth dragging pixel by pixel, to have the item snap to an invisible 10 pixel by 10 pixel grid.
Since there's such a nice built-in solution for regular drag and drop (the MouseArea drag property group) I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to do it without reimplementing the whole drag and drop behavior.
