Layout Options for Qt Widgets Grayed Out

  • I'm trying to follow the Getting Started Tutorial on making a Notepad app. When I choose a Text Edit Widget in Qt Designer, I always get the layout options grayed out. I can't set the layout for some reason. I hope there's a way to fix this issue. I installed version 5.13.1 on Windows 10 Home version 1903. Please help.

The layout options are available on the containing widget, not the one you want to lay out inside. So when you want to lay out a text edit inside something else you select that something else, not the text edit.

  • Ah, yes, that does make sense. Thanks.
