Can one Qt3DRender::QSpotLight shine on one object amongst many?

I would like to illuminate a single object amongst many objects with a Qt3DRender::QSpotLight. I can't seem to get the QSpotLight to just shine on a single object. So far I've tried things a bunch of different ways. Should the light and the given object be in their own entity? Their own layer? Both? Maybe a custom shader is needed? Maybe this isn't possible (say it isn't so)!
Using C++, Qt-5.13.0
