From reading the docs of qimage I see that painting is not supported on 8-bit indexed qimages. I'm working on a program that manipulates bitmap DVD subtitle images that are 8-bit. Outside of hacking qpainter to support this, since it doesn't seem to be a priority to fix as this limitation appears to have existed for a while now, is there any more efficient way to do paint operations instead of converting from 8-bit to 24-bit, do paint operations, then convert back to 8-bit?
