QPainter causing flickering black box at bottom of the screen

So we have a QPainter set up to display a chart, and when the user left clicks and drags it is supposed to move the chart around using update to redraw the image. This is working properly, but whenever you do this a black rectangle keeps flickering at the bottom of the screen.
Does anybody know what could be causing this?

What version of Qt are you using ?
What OS are you running ?
Can you provide a minimal compilable example that reproduces this behavior ?
