Solved The Desktop kit on Qt Creator is grayed out
-
@jsulm
There are only Android versions.Yes, I used the offline file. A bad choice probably! :(
Should uninstall this one a use the online installer this time? -
@J.Hilk
No folder except for Android ones. I'm almost completely sure I checked the tick for MinGW. I even took a screen shot before installing - I don't know why but likely for this situation! -
@tomy From this screen shot I don't see whether you checked Qt for MinGW.
I would uninstall and use online installer, so next time you can use Qt Maintenance Tool to update or add/remove Qt versions. -
@jsulm
OK I go for uninstalling and reinstalling using the online method.
But, doesn't the check for MinGW 5.3.0 in the very bottom, mean the Desktop kit you meant? -
@tomy
Hi
The one in bottom is the actual compiler.The one KazuoAsano shows in his shot is
a precompiled Qt version/binary for that compiler.Just select the mingw Qt version higher up and it will select the right compiler to
install also. -
@mrjj
Hi and thank you.
I uninstalled the prior version and selected the following items on the wizard for the new Qt using the online installer.
Please if possible check whether or not correct boxes have been checked. :) -
@tomy
Hi did you manually select the mingGW 5.3 ( below)?
I wonder as the Qt bin mingw you checked higher up
is for mingw 7.3also, you do have visual studio installed already, correct ?

@tomy
Im pretty sure u need mingw 7.3.0 64 bit compiler which it normally selects for you.
do you need the 5.3 version for anything ? -
Im pretty sure u need mingw 7.3.0 64 bit compiler which it normally selects for you.
do you need the 5.3 version for anything ?not actually.
So now the section collection is only as follows:
Qt 5.12.0:
- MSVC 2017 32-bit
- MinGW 7.3.0 64-bit
- Android x86
- Android ARMv7
Tools:
- Qt Creator 4.8.0 CDB Debugger support
- Qt Installer Framework 3.0
Is the setup OK now to be run, please?
-
@tomy
and you didnt fiddle at all with compiler in Tools section ?
I think it is then. Hopefully you get mingw compiler too. -
@mrjj
What compiler do you mean please?
Should I check MinGW 7.3.0 64-bit (in Tools) too? -
@tomy
I normally never select anything in Tools.
but to be on the safe side, please select it. -
OK, thanks.
So now I go for installing. -
@tomy
i cross fingers , it just works for you :) -
