Qt 5.2.1 on Linux Mint 16 - no icons?
-
I just installed Qt 5.2.1 64-bit (Opensource) on LM 16 KDE 64-bit using the web installer and no icons were installed for the applications. They open fine and everything seems to work but the launchers for them do not display any icon (in the menu or when added to a quick launch bar or the like).
Is this intentional? Can it be fixed?

Hi jgagnon,
Welcome to the devnet forums.
I'm not on Mint. But on debian this works fine.
Seems like there is some environment variable not set which results in not finding the icon files location.
If you edit the icon manually do you see the Qt icon in the available ones?
-
I just checked on my Debian Wheezy. The icon file is in:
/home/<USER>/.local/share/applications/
Hope it helps

Thank you. This is on my work machine so I will check this first thing tomorrow. I looked for the icon but didn't find it. It wasn't in the standard list of icons available to desktop shortcuts. I didn't even think to look in the .local/share directory.

Ok, I hope you will find it here.

I found the icon there and added it to the shortcut. Thank you. I still don't know why it wasn't added in the first place but at least I know how to make it work.

bq. I still don’t know why it wasn’t added in the first place
I think it has something to do with your environment variables, which do not point to that directory. This is not Qt related in my opinion.
I'm just curious what is possibly heading my way : What version of kde are you using?
My intuition says it's Mint. Could you search in the Mint forums/bugtracker if this is a known issue and report your findings back here?? -
I posted the message to the Mint forums and I'll post back here if/when I get a response.
On a side note, I added the Qt Creator link to a panel and changed the icon to something in ~/.local/share/icons and the menu items suddenly had an icon, too.
