Solved Errors on starting QtCreator after installing Qt 5.7.0 on Windows 10
-
When I try to start QtCreator I get several error messages (as detailed by the snapshots shown here: https://gyazo.com/collections/6d53278c64a6bd92d108c399fdfe1158), I have uninstalled and reinstalled Qt at least half a dozen times now and get the same errors every single time I try to start QtCreator, I even tried to manually create the folders the error messages indicate only to have the error messages change from path not found error to access denied errors despite the fact that my user account has full control of the folders, I even tried running QtCreator as Administrator but I still get the error messages.

Hi and welcome to devnet
Did you install Qt creator with the online installer together with Qt 5.7.0?
-
@koahnig Hi and thanks for replying. I downloaded the offline installer (open source edition named "qt-opensource-windows-x86-msvc2015_64-5.7.0.exe" (since I have Visual Studio Community 2015 installed on Windows 10 64 bit)) and installed using that. I didn't change any of the install defaults just clicked OK and let it do it's thing clicking Ok again wherever I needed to. I've even tried running QtCreator as Administrator with the same results though. I'll try uninstalling it and try with the online installer on the off chance that it will maybe download and install a version that contains a bug fix for this particular issue (if it does perhaps they should rebundle the offline installer whenever they release new versions of any bundled files that are contained in the offline installer). Anyway will post back to let you know if the online installer worked.
Thanks!

@koahnig No luck using the online installer, exact same problems.

Try to start Qt creator from command prompt with parameter "-noload Welcome".

This sounds a bit odd.
- Are other applications able to successfully write to your AppData subfolders?
- What happens if you temporarily disable your antivirus before launching Qt Creator?

-noload Welcome
I still get essentially the same errors (honestly didn't compare each and every one of them this time, but they all appeared to be the same as without that option), though the UI did change a bit (as expected I'm guessing since it bypasses the Welcome screen and goes straight to the IDE it appears. -
@JKSH Other apps can access the AppData subfolders just fine, for example I use a desktop client to access the virtual world of Second Life and that client stores it's user data and cached data and other things in both the Local and Roaming subfolders of AppData without any issues. Also temporarily disabling my antivirus (Avast Free Edition) doesn't seem to make any difference.

I'm afraid I haven't seen symptoms like this before, so I don't know what's going on, sorry...
One last thing I can think of: What happens if you create a new Windows account and launch Qt Creator from that account?

@JKSH, I uninstalled Qt again and this time ran the installer as administrator and it looks as if that did the trick, not entirely sure why though.
