Solved GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in
-
You need the "hlsdemux" plugin that is in "gst-plugins-bad".
-
gst-inspect-1.0 | grep hlsdemux returns: hls: hlsdemux: HLS Demuxer

As far as I know qtmultimedia still uses gstreamer0.10 and I don't know how to get "gst-plugins-bad" for that version.

@lukam should be in the package "gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad" or has it been removed from Mint 18 ?
-
@oniongarlic Looks like it has been removed from Mint 18 and Ubunutu 16.04 also.

Got it fixed by installing gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad from old repositories.
-
@lukam I seem to have a similar problem. What repositories did you use?
Edit: Okay, I seem to have resolved my issue with some other plugins, unfortunately I am not sure which one...
-
I downloaded it from ubuntu trusty (14.04LTS). Probably v5.8 and gstreamer1.0 should fix this issue.
