Solved How to add Compiler and Debugger
-
Hello,
I just installed Qt Creator but it doesn't have compiler and debugger. So, right now it's just useless to me. How can I fix this? -
Hi,
As silly as it may sound: install a compiler and a debugger.
If you're on OS X, install Xcode.
If you're on Linux, install g++ + gdb,
If you're on Windows, then you selected a Visual Studio package. In that case, install the matching Visual Studio from Microsoft.Hope it helps

I'm on Windows 10. How can I see which Visual Studio I selected during the installation?
-
Start the maintenance tool. Usually it is in c:\Qt\MaintenanceTool.exe. Press Skip, select "Add or remove components", press Next. Now check what is selected under Qt/Qt 5.5

OK, I selected msvc 2013 . So, I dowload the compiler from this page https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=41151?
-
No, since you selected the VS2013 you need install Visual Studio 2013. You can find it here.
You can't use libraries built with one version of Visual Studio with another. Microsoft's compilers are not compatible one with the other.

VS Community, VS Enterprise or VS Code?
-
Community should be fine.

VS Community, VS Enterprise or VS Code?
VS Code is a text editor and does not contain a compiler.
There's no Enterprise edition of VS2013, so make sure you're looking at the right version (not VS2015). -
OK, now it works just fine. Thanks guys.
