OpenCommander - Open source SpeedCommander clone
-
Hello,
I am currently starting a new project called OpenCommander. It will be an open source SpeedCommander clone for linux based systems. For those who don't know SpeedCommander: it's an filemanager for Windows with two panels and some pretty nice features like quick preview, opening archives like folders, tabs, etc.
I know there is already Krusader, which provide many of this features, but it's lacking some of the features I liked very much in SpeedCommander (Quick preview for example) and also a plugin system and more customization. So I am searching for developers who are interested in contributing to the project with enough knowledge in Qt and linux (which I seem to not have :) ).
The GitHub repo is already setup. You can find it here: https://github.com/0x2A/OpenCommander

Planned features:
Since it will be a SpeedCommander clone, many of the features are already predestined. But since the project is in the very beginning, the following things are the first todos:- file/folder views/widgets
- tab view/widget
- HDD/mount selection
- Plugin system design
- Key layout management
- Settings
So a basic functionality can be provided. Afterwards more and more features of the role model should be added, but thats for future.
Feel free to ask more questions, tips, or even show interest in the project.
Greets,

Hi and welcome to devnet,
Sounds like a promising project but out of curiosity, why not contribute to Krusader and improve/implement the features you are missing with it ?
