Solved QtCreator 3.5.1 ui locks up
-
First off I don't think this issue entirely a bug with QtCreator, at least I'm not really sure. I have 3 pc's and on 1 it misbehaves quite a bit. While normal use of QtCreator, the entire ui will lock up. If I had a drop down menu open that will stay on top of other windows. I can still move the window around so it looks like the ui thread is getting blocked. I'm not even sure where to begin to figure out whats interacting poorly with QtCreator.

Hi
For test, please disable your virus scanner. Especially if its Avast.
also try to run with
qtcreator -noload Welcome -noload QmlDesigner -noload QmlProfiler
and see if it still acts up. -
@mrjj Thanks for the response, I'm running windows 10 and using the virus scan that comes bundled with it. MS security essentials.
The curious thing i've recently noticed. I'm probably going to expand my issue from QtCreator to any widget applications. I switched to visual studio and our application is experiencing similar issues. At least now I can use visual studio to debug it. Maybe figure out some extra details. This is on a brand new laptop. Our app, and QtCreator works every where else.

Ok it does seems a bit odd.
For test , did u disable MS security essentials ?Also it could be something bad happen during Qt install?
-
@mrjj Yeah disabling ms security essentials doesn't seem to help. I've tried reinstalling qt but I can try again, or maybe use a different version. I have visual studio 2013 update 5 if that helps. All of my pc's are windows 10 and updated.

@SavageTwinky
Well VS 2013 is a good and tried setup.
and you did take one of theseQt 5.5.1 for Windows 64-bit (VS 2013, 823 MB) (info)
Qt 5.5.1 for Windows 32-bit (VS 2013, 804 MB) (info)http://www.qt.io/download-open-source/#section-2
Online installer should also be super.

@mrjj We are currently using 5.4 so I used the latest opengl version for vs2013 64 bit. It definitly worked the first day I had it. I wonder if something I installed broke it.

ok. sounds in order then.If you make a default simple app. Does this work flawless?
Im wondering if its the opengl part.Its hard to bork Qt by installing other programs as it just lives in Qt folder and normally quite happy.

@mrjj I think i may have found it. There was this app I originally couldn't install when setting the PC up because the drivers it was bundled with wasn't up to date... I noticed it was loading the Nahimic dll while running in the Visual studio debugger. Uninstalling Nahimic for MSI seems might have solved my issue.
-
@SavageTwinky
Thank you for reporting back.
So this Nahimic , what does it do ? -
@mrjj It makes the really crappy speakers this particular MSI laptop has sound less crappy.
-
@SavageTwinky
Ok :)
I wonder how it can affect Creator and your app. -
@mrjj I know, our app doesn't have any sound, its working a lot longer though, I'm tempted to say the problem is "solved"
-
@SavageTwinky
Yeah its solved. :)
One of these times
that computers makes you go ehh? -
@mrjj well I still don't know why the dll is getting loaded, they must do something funny and try to swap a windows dll with theirs maybe.
-
@mrjj I don't know how to mark this as solved

@SavageTwinky
