QtCreator not starting on Ubuntu
-
Hi,
A week ago I updated Qt, after update it and rerun MaintananceTool it showed an "Damaged installation...bla bla bla" error message.
I reinstalled Qt (Ubuntu's and Digia's version). When I run QtCreator nothing happens, I open System Monitor and it shows qtcreator in the process list. I kill it and try to run it from command line and I am getting this error:
"QObject::connect: Cannot connect SharedTools::QtSingleApplication::fileOpenRequest(QString) to (null)::fileOpenRequest(QString)"
and seems that qtcreator is hanged.
What should I do to fix this?
Thank you very much in advanced

If you have both Ubuntu's and Digia's version of Qt, would you have two versions of Qt Creator as well? My gut feeling tells me qmake is not linking properly with the right version of QtCreator.
Like you, I have both installation of Qt with the system Qt installed in /usr and the Digia version installed in /opt. I have both versions of QtCreator the system version running on 4.8 and the Digia version runs on 5.3. Even both QtAssistants show the two different versions of Doc files.
What I can suggest is perhaps deleting the configuration files. In your home directory, enable Show Hidden Files and navigate inside .config. If you have both versions, you'll see two folders there QtProject and Trolltech. QtProject folder is generated by the Digia version and the Trolltech folder is from the system's Qt. You can delete them because when you run QtCreator again, it will generate fresh, new configuration files. That might just do it. If not uninstall everything again including these configuration files, and reinstall.

Thank you very much for your replay.
Deleting the configuration from ~/.config/Qt worked.

Hello,
I have a similar problem but deleting .config/QtProject did not work. (no other directories created)
I installed Qt yesterday with the online installer on a debian 64bit.
Really no hint or exception available.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Kind Regards

Hi and welcome to devnet,
have a look at your environment variables: make sure, your Qt directory is included in your PATH and QTDIR points to it (.../Qt5.4.0/5.4/gcc_64/bin/).
If this is ok, please post an error message if available. -

Hello,
thanks for the welcome message.
There was really no message at all. But a few seconds ago I noticed that this was related to "icewm" window manager.
So switching to Gnome solved my problem :-)
So now I can start try to code
Thanks and regards.
