Starting as an online community manager
Tough one right away :)
Haha, my apologies! I was probably overenthusiastic . Please take all the time you need to research, plan, and engage.
That's a lot of planning and doing to make a smooth transition. Not that I would be a stranger to that kind of work, but it requires a good lot of thinking before doing.
Agreed; rushing would be counterproductive.
As for the MediaWiki example, I'd say that's a low priority at the moment. The existing Wiki could be nicer, but it works.
In contrast, the "cohesiveness of the community":http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/36970/ seems to be degrading and would benefit lots from immediate attention.
And that's where I need a lot of help. I know the community is full of people who are technically more competent than I am, so I need to find the right channels to get these kind of discussions going.
Please let us know how we can help you.
AFAICS, the mailing lists have the best mix of "end users" and Digia staff. (but I've never been to IRC myself, so I don't know what it's like there)

Hi and welcome aboard Tero Kojo.
I wish you all the best for your job, because I'm a great Qt fan, Qt is a handsome toolkit.
Please help me in making Qt-project.org and all it's related systems a good home for the Qt community!
I'm here to help, have discussions and make changes happen. If you have ideas, please ping me, I'll be at least here in the forums and on IRC.
I can tell you that I really enjoyed, and miss, some activities that were happening when Qt was under Nokia umbrella, like the Qt Ambassador program, and Qt app contests, where prizes where t-shirts, Qt books ...
Qt Ambassadors also had a private group in linkedin manage by Katherine Barrios, wich is now in Digia, but that is pratically dead by now, since the end of the program.I think this are great ways to get new people coding and developing with Qt.

Wohoo! Welcome and nice to see familiar faces back in Qt-land :)

Welcome Tero
We are waiting for Qt developer days 2013 videos.
Do you know when Qt developer days 2013 tech videos will be released?
I remembered Qt developer days 2012 videos were released before 2012 Christmas.
I hope you can help accelerating releasing Qt developer days 2013 tech videos.

Hi Tero and welcome! Looking forward to the changes :)

Warm Welcome to Tero in Qt world.
It's really been nice move for Qt world to take such kind of responsibility.
Best Luck for your future plans.... -
A belated welcome to Tero! Nice to have you here!

Thanks everyone :)
Looks like there is a lot to do here. And a lot of helpful people!
Please check the Ambassador program "reboot thread":http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/38225/ and write your suggestions there.
As for the 2013 Qt Developer Days videos, I think they are available on the QtStudios Youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/QtStudios
If they aren't there, please ping me. I'll go and find them somewhere. -
Hi Tero,
2013 Qt Developer Days technical videos are not public as "utcenter said":http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/35276/.
bq. Today I noticed the dev days 2013 Berlin playlist now contains 39 videos. Unfortunately, only the keynotes are public, all the new uploads are private and cannot be viewed

Hi Tero,
welcome to the Qt community. Good luck in all what you try to do (and change?).
