[solved (sort of)] Problem building Qt 5.2.1 on the Mac
-
I don't know how/why I keep running up against these... I must be "special" or something...
So, I'm trying to build Qt 5.2.1 on the Mac (MacSDK 10.8, Xcode 5.0.2), and things hum along quite well, until this happens:
@...

The gibberish appears in both the terminal window, and if I save the output and open it in TextWrangler, it looks the same. I tried a couple of different fonts and character encodings in TextWrangler to see if it would change anything, but it didn't.Since these seems to be in webkit, and I know I can disable it, I'll do that as a workaround.
But this is a new level of weird... does it ring any bells with anyone?
Thanks!

So, I did a
make clean
, did a
init-repository -f --no-webkit
and started again... this time, I get a very different failure:

Looks more like you are trying to build Qt 5.2.2, not 5.2.1.
I can't say about 5.2.2, but the 5.2.1 .tar.gz compiled with no problem, latest Xcode, latest OS.
-
I suppose it could be 5.2.2... I haven't figured
git
out well enough to be sure. I just know it's from the stable branch of qt/qt5 at qt.gitorious.org.
-
If stable is really broken, you will probably have more chance in the dev mailing list than here with this question.
-
Problem is, I don't know if stable is broken, or if I'm broken! ;)
But the e-mail list is my next stop if my current rebuilding attempt fails.
Thanks!

So, just to continue the path of weird, I did a clean and rebuild, and now everything builds just fine.
I hate it when things don't work.
I love it when things do work.
But when things work for no reason, I get uncomfortable ;)
