I'm waiting for N9 in Italy...

One of the key things to note about MeeGo is that because of the "upstream first" approach to development I think it would be a lot more resilient to this kind of thing compared to some other projects. Unlike android, there aren't massive differences between the mainline Linux kernel and the MeeGo kernel that need people to maintain. Similarly (most of) the rest of the MeeGo infrastructure is reasonably close to the upstream projects too. This means that even if Intel decided to walk away from it there wouldn't be a huge amount of work that would be left to bitrot because it's largely been pushed back upstream and can be maintained there. As far as the rumour itself... these same people were also reporting that Samsung was looking at buying/licencing WebOS right up until Samsung said that was never going to happen...

Third party manufacturers like HTC need not be in trouble by this acquisition. It's pretty much the same situation as with Nokia/Symbian and the other vendors. And that worked pretty well. The pure reason - IMHO - behind this deal is to acquire a patent portfolio in order to strengthen Google's own position, especially against Apple and Microsoft. Added to that, it's not very unlikely that Google will sell the actual factories to someone else. They will hold the patents and develop the devices, but have some third party contract manufacturers actually building the next billion devices. Just like Apple does - not without success.

I think if they invite you, so they understand that you don't have much experience and will ask about basic things in C++. So just revise knowledge about c++, as you said: classes, templates, pointers. And as it says worst-first :-) Good luck.

bq. MeeGo is competitor OS to Windows Phone so it is not a big surprise that Nokia will not ship N9 in the USA. My naive idea was, that the CEO of Nokia makes his decision in the best interest of Nokia and not Microsoft. Samsung sells WP7 phones and Android. Less than 5% of customers choose Microsoft phones. If Samsung offered only Microsoft they would miss on 95% of revenue. By the way, the share price of Nokia lost 60% since the burning platform speach that destroyed the Nokia revenue stream.

I use one of "these":http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/natural-ergonomic-keyboard-4000/B2M-00012 at work. It's a split keyboard and it took a little getting used to, but I find that for extended periods of typing, it really does make things more comfortable. I typically ignore all the extra keys and buttons and gadgets on it, though I have mapped a few of the extra keys to some of my favorite commonly used Qt Creator features. At home, I'm a traditionalist, and still enjoy my "Model M,":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_M_keyboard which I've been using for years now. I love the clicky feel from the buckle springs and the sheer weight of the thing. It's truly an old friend. Edit: @bobby - You might be using a Das Keyboard, but the Model M was the original DOS Keyboard. :-)

I knew of it; I actually have a can on my desk that a co-worker brought back for me from a trip :-)
